Corporate Back Up Care -
Open 7:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday
The backup care program provides high quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years when regular child care arrangements are not available. Your Employer must be a member of the program for you to participate. Inquire to your management or Human Resources staff to determine whether you are able to utilize this excellent service of the DCC, or call the Center at 314-621-1131 to get information on this program.
Your employer has provided you access to complete backup childcare for days when:
- Your regular child care provider is ill or on vacation.
- The person who cares for your child resigns or is terminated unexpectedly and you need time to make arrangements.
- It snows and your child's school is closed, & the DCC is able to remain open.
- A teacher conference or work day is scheduled for your child's school.
- You need to work on a school holiday.
- After maternity or disability leave you need to ease back into a full schedule.
- You are in St. Louis for a temporary assignment or transitional relocation.
- Your need for care is short term, less than 10 days.
How Does It Work?
- Employees are pre registered with the Downtown Children's Center to allow for immediate access to the program.
- Employees call a 24 hour, 7 day a week reservation line to arrange for child care.
- Employees pay $10. to $40. per day on a sliding fee scale.

Individual Family Back Up Care -
DCC also offers Back Up Care packages on an individual basis. Families can purchase a 5-day package of care and use each individual day as needed. These days NEVER expire and do NOT need to be used consecutively. Parents are expected to call in advance to schedule care for their child(ren) in order to make sure that there is availability in the appropriate rooms. Registration forms and payment for each package is due BEFORE care is provided.
Pricing -
Children 6 weeks - 2 years of age: $400 per 5-day package
Children 2 years - 12 years of age: $350 per 5-day package
